Employee Satisfaction

Employee satisfaction or job satisfaction is a way of gauging employees’ happiness with their work, whether they enjoy the job or aspects of jobs or even individual aspects of their work such as supervision or management. Employee satisfaction is measured by many and may range from asking a question about an aspect of the job (e.g. ‘are you happy to see your mate every day when you get home?’) to measuring them in personality and performance tests.

Employee satisfaction can be measured through several factors; some are self-assessed (e.g. ‘do you like your job? ‘), some are based on objective feedback, which includes performance reviews and other feedback from supervisors and other employees (e.g. ‘are you satisfied with your boss? ‘).

An important factor that determines employee satisfaction levels is what the employee values. It may also have to do with what the employee finds personally rewarding. The more the employee values the things that make them happy and satisfied, the higher the level of satisfaction they may have.

The satisfaction level can also be affected by the type of work, the environment, the personal aspects of the work, and the other employees around them. For example, if an employee works in a work environment where they can take a break after working all day, or where they are not constantly required to do repetitive tasks and work in the same room, their happiness may decline because they don’t enjoy the environment. On the other hand, if an employee’s environment is fun, exciting, and relaxing, then their satisfaction level may increase. However, this is often the case when employees are doing something that brings them pleasure, such as taking part in a team building exercise.

Another aspect of employee satisfaction is the actual job itself, which can differ from job to job and industry to industry. A good example is being employed as a receptionist; there is obviously no need for a happy receptionist to be happy at all times. However, most receptionists would find that the job provides a lot of job satisfaction. such as feeling appreciated, knowing they can help customers, getting recognition for good work and making an honest living. Most people find the work to be enjoyable and rewarding, but are sometimes dissatisfied with the environment (a lack of structure).

Job satisfaction is also influenced by the type of people who are doing the work. If a good, friendly supervisor is in charge of the company’s employees, then employees are more likely to find themselves happy and satisfied. However, if the people are rude and arrogant and difficult, employees will find themselves unhappy with the work environment. They may even feel that they have been treated unfairly, and that there is a need to change or be treated better.

Sometimes, high employee dissatisfaction occurs because a company is not paying enough attention to the needs and expectations of their employees, as well as the employees themselves. If employees do not feel that they are respected or appreciated, then they will have a hard time getting along with other people and feel unhappy in the company.

If a person feels that they are not doing a good job at the job they are doing, it is likely to have a negative effect on their self-confidence and overall sense of satisfaction with themselves. Therefore, a high degree of employee satisfaction and job satisfaction is something that should be encouraged. Even if the work is not always perfect, as long as the people are doing it well, then it can make a big difference in how well the employee feels.
