Business casual is much more than it used to be. It has become a vague, generalized term that describes a lot of things that used to be very specific. That being said, however, the business casual attire still remains a bit of an elusive idea, with there being little clearly defined guidelines and rules guiding it. If you are unsure about exactly what business casual attire means to you, then take some time to consider what exactly it is and how it applies to you.

Before anything else, it must be noted that business casual wardrobe is not necessarily for formal occasions only. The definition of it implies that it refers to any type of attire that will allow you to conduct yourself in a professional manner. In other words, business casual shoes, shirts, jackets and trousers. This does not, however, mean that you can never be dressed in a suit; nor does it mean that you have to keep your jacket on at all times. With the right accessories and smart shoe choices, your business casual wardrobe can be completed with the right blouse, shirt and trousers.

There are many types of business casual shirts that you can choose from. There are casual shirts that come in a V-neck shape, as well as the traditional captain’s style. There are also shirts that are long and lean toward the smarter side, such as the polo neck. Of course, every man needs to have his own shirt of choice, because his looks will always be important to himself!

Now, let’s talk about what type of pants you should wear when going out to a business dinner or event. There are two basic styles of dress pants, which include slacks and jeans. Men’s dress pants can vary significantly in style, fit and fabric, so you’ll definitely want to spend time getting ready for what you’re wearing. Slim straight leg pants are a great option for business attire, especially if you’re the sort of guy who likes to stay fit.

As far as shoes go, you might wear dress shoes with a pair of dress pants. But do remember to choose your shoes before you put your shirt and tie on. Don’t select a shoe first and then figure out your shirt and tie. Select the shoes to go with the pants first, and then put on the tie. This is the best way to ensure that you match your shoes to your pants.

If you aren’t sure which shoes to wear, you can always go with dress shoes and dress slacks, or even a button-down shirts. Black dress shoes and black slacks are classic business casual combinations, and they look sharp with khakis, jeans, shorts, even a button-down shirt. For something a little edgier, try red slacks with white dress shoes. Navy blue khakis are a great match for black dress shoes, and Oxfords are a great option for button-down shirts.

Khakis and a denim work well together to create a dressy look, but you can’t just throw a pair of khakis and a pair of denim on the old man and women. You have to find a pair that you can feel comfortable wearing, and that won’t show dirt or crumbs off. Black khakis tend to be the sturdiest, and if you can find a good pair of black jeans, you can really make them work for any occasion. That means you need to be able to walk around in your new khakis for several hours before you need to wash them. A pair of blue jeans is ideal, but if they are not really your style, you can also try a white pair of jeans. White jeans still look good with khakis, and you can use them with a button-down shirt to complete the look.

Of course, when you’re trying to create your own business casual wardrobe, it is easy to fall into the trap of pairing anything with anything. Don’t do this! It’s best to stick with a few basic pieces, such as a pair of dress trousers (for a business suit), a crisp white shirt, a leather jacket, and a tie, or a blouse and necktie. These outfits will be classic staples in any business wardrobe, and you’ll find that you don’t even need to spend much time putting them together. Once you get a feel for these outfits, and have a better idea of what colors and styles look best with your other outfits, then you’ll be able to expand your selection and create a more balanced business casual wardrobe.
