The directors of Ocean Residences Development Ltd. (ORD) announce the appointment of an important selection of international interior designers who will be engaged to design and create the interiors of our residential yacht, M/Y NJORD. Briefed to prepare the concepts for one of the Penthouses and a fine residential apartment, these homes will see the sun set in a different place all year round.
Born in Belgium, Gathy has spent much of his adult life based in Asia. After founding his architecture and design studio, DENNISTON, in 1983, he has gone on to become the go-to name for the creation of innovative and forward-thinking designs for leading luxury hotels around the world. This is the result of the blending of his European education, his upbringing and his lifestyle. Gathy’s recognised signature aesthetic and exposure to luxury lifestyle together with his deep passion for travelling and conservation meant he was a clear choice for the team behind M/Y NJORD – his values aligning very closely with the founder’s vision of conservation, adventure, community and philanthropy.
“I have travelled my whole life and it has actually been my school of learning,” says Gathy who, due to various work commitments, is generally away from home for up to 200 days of the year. “People often ask me what triggers my creativity? I believe whilst travelling, you actually unconsciously amalgamate a library of visual information, emotion and experiences, which carve the mind and the brain. Luxury hotel brands and developers make space to allow the integration of all these assets in their products, be it in hotels, resorts, yachts or real estates.”

Individuality and aspirations are the basis of every project. The studio ethos is ‘I am my home’.”
1508 London is a design studio specialising in design of high-end private residences, luxury and boutique hospitality projects, and residential developments, as well as yachts and product design. Born out of the idea of perfection in design, their name is derived from a moment in time during the year 1508, when a then-unknown artist named Michelangelo, armed with only a pencil, presented himself to Pope Julius II, and was commissioned to paint the frescoes on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Deeply rooted with a collaborative approach, their designs are drawn from measured principles, inspired by history, geography and the local architectural vernacular. Their expertise extends across all stages of design and construction, beginning with feasibility studies, planning applications, conceptual and detailed design, through to monitoring construction on-site, procurement, dressing and handover. The business takes great pride in ensuring each project is finished to the highest level of quality. With offices spanning across four continents, 1508 London offers a world-leading service of best-in-class design, and are a collective of authentic atelier studios with a global reach.

Legendary interior designer Alberto Pinto was inspired by cross referencing cultural references from a young age. Born in Casablanca to Argentine parents in 1943, he went on to study at the Ecole de Louvre in Paris before launching a photo agency in New York. Pinto started designing for his friends, creating eclectic interiors in a variety of styles with bold, daring details, setting up the Paris studio in 1968. His sister, Linda Pinto, took over the studio in 2012 when the iconic designer passed away. Eclecticism, luxury details and refinement remain the key words when creating interiors for prestigious clients worldwide, including the Saudi Arabian and Qatari royal families. PINTO has designed the interiors of 10 of the world’s 100 largest yachts as well as numerous private residences, aircraft and hotels, notably The Lanesborough and The Dorchester in London. True “architecture d’interieur.”
