TP-Link joins forces with Good Things Foundation to help close the digital divide

1st August 2022 – UK: TP-Link®, a leading global provider of business and consumer networking products, is delighted to announce it is working with social change charity Good Things Foundation.

To help fix the digital divide, TP-Link has supplied state-of-the-art M7200 MiFi devices for use within community Digital Inclusion Hubs across the UK. The 4G LTE Mobile Wi-Fi provides internet access for up to ten devices from a single SIM card.

Good Things Foundation has supported more than 4 million people globally since 2010.

A staggering 10 million people are digitally excluded, disproportionately affecting those with low household income or low educational attainment. Sadly, 37% of those simply don’t have the right equipment.

Through their National Device Bank, Good Things Foundation gives free devices to people in need, along with distributing free data through their National Data Bank and supporting people to use the devices through their National Digital Inclusion Network.

TP-Link has helped facilitate this by donating MiFis at cost price.

Group Chief Executive of Good Things Foundation, Helen Milner OBE said: “We are delighted to be working with TP-Link who have proactively engaged with us to address the issue of digital exclusion. It’s a great example of how those involved in the telecoms & networking industry can come together and help. We’re delighted to work with TP-Link with this at cost donation.”

One in five people struggle to communicate, search for health information or access government services online. The digital gap widened during COVID-19 with greater reliance on good-quality connectivity for work, keeping in touch with loved ones and for education.

Good Things Foundation’s aim is to fix the digital divide for good. By the end of 2025 they plan to support 5,000 Digital Inclusion Hubs across the UK.

Kalam Meah, ISP Director at TP-Link UK explained: “We are incredibly pleased to have commercially supported Good Things Foundation with these new devices.”

TP-Link has been consistently ranked by analyst firm IDC as the No.1 provider of Wi-Fi devices* for 11 consecutive years, supplying wireless solutions to more than 170 countries and serving billions of people worldwide.

Meah continues: “As we are the world’s leading networking manufacturer and also the people’s choice in technology, this brings with it great responsibility. We have an obligation in terms of who we are and our position within the industry. It is vitally important that we take an active role in bridging the digital divide and this is one way we can deliver our commitment to social responsibility.”
